GLORIOUS weather and the Platinum Jubilee party spirit ensured a bumper turnout at a family fun event at Cardross Parish Church on Saturday afternoon.
Members of the congregation were joined by residents and visitors for two hours of Jubilee-related family fun and games, with afternoon teas setting plenty of tastebuds tingling and no shortage of royal-themed costumes.
Plants and home baking were also on sale and, along with a bouncy castle, face painting, a ‘hook a duck’ competition and a raffle, helped to raise almost £1,800 for the church’s funds.
The church’s minister, Rev Maggie McArthur, said: “A massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who made our Platinum Jubilee fair such a success.
“It was a great day shared by many in the community of all ages. We had blethers over a fantastic afternoon tea and lots of fun sharing in the garden activities.
“Thanks to Liz McKee, our social committee convener, and her marvellous team of helpers; to Cardross Golf Club, Cardross Co-op, Marianne the hairdresser and to Alison, the community champion at the Helensburgh Morrisons store for all their generous donations to the raffle.
“We couldn’t have done it without the support of so many friends. Your presence and donations are all greatly appreciated. Thank you once again.”
