A CYCLING event through Helensburgh will return in just under two months’ time to raise cash for a good cause.
Having gone ahead last year following a pandemic-enforced postponement in 2020, the Helensburgh Sportive is pencilled in for July 17 with entries still open.
The 50-mile open road race will take competitors on a scenic route from Helensburgh Sailing Club along the coast, up the Red Road and into Cardross, through Glen Fruin and around the Rosneath peninsula.
All proceeds this year are going to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA).
Organiser Sam Flatman said she was confident that the entry limit of 200 would be reached this year “with the numbers we’ve had over the past three Sportives increasing every year”.
It is also hoped that last year’s fund-raising total of £5,000 - donated to Beatson Cancer Charity - will be topped in 2022.
Sam told the Advertiser: “This year we have chosen the SCAA as it is very relevant to everyone, especially those taking part in sports such as cycling.”
The entry fee is £35 and you can sign up here.
