FORMER Hibs striker turned pundit Tam McManus has been unveiled as one of the guest speakers at Rhu Amateurs’ annual player of the year night and sportsman’s dinner next month.
McManus, who made 348 senior appearances in an 18-year professional career in Scotland, the League of Ireland and the United States, will share the bill with comedian Joe Camay at the event at the Rosslea Hall Hotel in Rhu on Friday, May 27.
Tickets for the event (priced £30 and including a three-course meal and entertainment) are available now by messaging ‘Rhu Amateurfc’ on Facebook or contacting any committe member.
And the club has also unveiled details of its committee for the 2022-23 season after its AGM on Monday.
Alistair McKenzie will continue in his role as club president and will also oversee the club’s finances as treasurer, though will have an apprentice by his side in Russell Makeham.
Sam Gemmell will occupy the secretary’s position as well as managing the club’s Greater Glasgow Premier League squad, with Makeham as his assistant.
The full list of committee members is as follows: Alistair McKenzie (president and treasurer), Russell Makeham (apprentice treasurer), Sam Gemmell (secretary), Gordon Brodie (bar convener), Bobby Dunn (Caledonian match secretary), Sam Gemmell (GGPL match secretary), Gordon Brodie, Jason Petchy, Paul Reynolds, Allan Campbell (Caledonian management team), Sam Gemmell, Russell Makeham (GGPL management team), Laird Douglas Black (fabric convener), Ralph Dick, Alex Potter, Jamie Kjorstad (general committee members).
On the pitch at Rhu, the club’s Caledonian League team return to action this Saturday, April 23, after a two-week break with a trip to Bluebellwood Park to take on Milton AFC.
The Ardenconnel side occupy tenth place in the First Division with the Bannockburn still potentially chasing top spot as, despite currently lying in fourth, they have a number of games in hand over teams ahead of them.
Boss Gordon Brodie is set to see out the final game of his suspension after being sent off in a feisty clash with St Joseph’s in his first game in charge of the club, so will return to the touchline for the final two league games of the season and the remainder of the President’s Cup towards the end of the campaign.
The clubs Greater Glasgow league side do not return to action until early next month with a trip to South Lochaber Thistle AFC on May 7.
The two sides currently occupy the bottom two spots in Division 1 with Sam Gemmell’s side keen to end the campaign on a high after picking up their first win of the season against Glasgow University earlier this month.
