A Helensburgh company has been recognised at an awards ceremony for its work on a major renovation project at an Edinburgh attraction.
Scottish Window Solutions was awarded Best Commercial Installation at the Glass and Glazing Products Awards for its contribution to the Johnnie Walker Experience building on Princes Street.
The work was part of a £185million investment by Diageo, with the shopfront of the former House of Fraser building being fitted with new glazing and an impressive entrance lobby.
Opened in September 2021, the site offers eight-floors of private dining, live performance areas, and tasting rooms in the heart of Edinburgh.
Linda Wilson, one of the company's directors, said: "Our company was involved in all of the frontage of the building on the lower floor. It was all steel-framed doors and glazing doors.
"We were there for the best part of six months last year during lockdown. From that point of view there were all sorts of issues, but we worked through it.
"There was a load of brass pressings from the original building which had to be taken off.
"We removed those and they had to be completely refurbished, restored, and put back on, so there was a lot of intricate work."
This was the first time the company had won such an award.
The directors followed an application process before securing their nomination and having their work put to a panel of judges.
They then travelled to Manchester for the ceremony, with the winners being revealed at the city's Albert Hall.
Linda added: "I think speechless is the word.
"We are a small company, but we get more and more recognition for the work that we do.
"We always had a good feel about the project and hoped it would be a stepping stone on to other similar projects.
"It was a mixture of emotions, but it’s a credit to everybody who worked with us in the background on it.
"We are so proud of our team. Everybody in the company had some form of in involvement in the project.
"It was particularly nice to get rewarded because it was a long, long process for everyone on our team.
