PEOPLE in Rosneath have been thanked for saving hundreds of lives through their generous support for those fleeing the terror of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The message comes the founder of a charity which has been transporting urgently-needed goods across Europe to refugees fleeing to safety beyond Ukraine's borders.
Ewen Cameron, of ReactAid, used to live in Rosneath - and paid a flying visit back to the village this week to load up on donations kindly given by people living in the area.
The ReactAid donation drive, which saw vanloads of items contributed by local residents as well as more than £1,000 in cash, was organised by Autumn Brown, who set up the Rosneath Events community page on Facebook during the first Covid lockdown and has since organised a host of events in the village.
In a post on the page this week Autumn said: "Just met up with my 'hero' Ewen from Reactaid, who is up on a flying visit before heading back out to Ukraine.

"Had a lovely chat, and he also said that thanks to everyone who donated, you helped save the lives of 300-400 Ukrainians.
"Thank you to Ewen for everything you and your team are doing, and thank you to your children for the lovely picture they drew."
Autumn is now turning her attention to helping refugees from Ukraine coming to live in safety in the area.
Autumn herself can provide ladies' welcome packs to be given to hosting families in the area who need them - contact her through the Rosneath Events page - or you can get in touch with the local 'Nought 2 Ninety' support group's Facebook page for children's welcome packs.
