THE deadline to apply to be a Babcock apprentice is looming.

Babcock International Group, the international aerospace, defence and security company, is proudly supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week, March 7 to 11, as the company prepares to take on its new 2022 recruits at HMNB Clyde at Faslane.

Babcock is currently looking for apprentices to join its workforce in August, with 14 apprenticeships available across the disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical, Welding & Fabrication, Instrumentation & Control, and Project Control.

Anyone interested in hands-on technical experience in the workplace, whilst also undertaking a college course on a part-time basis, is encouraged to apply.

Second year Project Control Apprentice, Rachel, said: “The Babcock apprenticeship offers a good mix of practical, theory and work-based learning, covering all aspects of engineering.

"At the end of my apprenticeship, I hope to be a qualified Project Scheduler and progress my learning – and my career – with Babcock.”

The 25-year-old added: “My advice to any potential applicants who are thinking about applying for a Babcock apprenticeship would be to work hard, take as many opportunities as you can that will help you to stand out, and don’t hesitate to apply – even if you’re unsure – as it could be the best decision that you ever make.”

Kenny Douglas, Managing Director of Babcock at HMNB Clyde, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming our next generation of talent to our operations at HMNB Clyde.

"I’m excited to see where the apprenticeships will take our new recruits in their future careers.”
