A revised planning application has been lodged with council officials for a ‘semi-closed’ fish farm on Loch Long.
Applicant Loch Long Salmon Ltd (LLS), based in Glasgow, first unveiled its proposals for the site in the shadow of Beinn Reithe, roughly halfway between Ardgartan and the MoD jetty at Glen Mallan, in October.
The revised application refers to the positioning of four moorings proposed as part of the fish farm’s operation, and is a ‘cross boundary’ application to both Argyll and Bute Council and the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority.
LLS says the farm, which it hopes will be operational by 2023, will have four circular shaped marine farming enclosures which will sit single file in a mooring grid around 300 metres from the western bank of Loch Long, and will employ approximately 12 people.
The company says the “transformative farming system” is the first of its kind in Scotland.
The application and all background papers submitted so far can be viewed on Argyll and Bute Council’s website by searching for the planning reference code 21/02455/MFF.
