MEMBERS of the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat’s (LLRB) volunteer crew have been praised for giving up their time on Christmas Day after returning a family to safety when their boat experienced engine trouble.
The team were paged by Police Scotland shortly before 12noon on December 25 after reports of a 28ft vessel with engine trouble with two adults and two children onboard.
The rescue boat made its way to the reported area near Ardlui at the River Falloch and located the boat on the sandbank just off a rocky outcrop.
The crew had to enter the water and ensure the boat did not reach the rocky point before securing a tow line and manoeuvring the boat into deep water. It was then towed back to Ardlui marina in “very challenging conditions”.
A post on the LLRB Facebook page afterwards said: “Thank you to all crew involved today for giving their time up with family and friends on Christmas Day to assist.”
