HELENSBURGH'S lifeboat crew rescued a man from the River Clyde on Thursday night.
The volunteer crew was called out after a 21-year-old man went into the water near Customhouse Way in Greenock shortly after 10.30pm on December 30, sparking a major emergency alert.
The lifeboard crew pulled the man from the water and took him ashore to a waiting ambulance.
Sergeant Jason Logsdon of Greenock police said: "The incident was reported at 10.35pm.
"A 21-year-old male entered the water, however was rescued by coastguard and taken to hospital whereby he was given appropriate medical treatment."
A coastguard spokesman added: "A male entered the water and was rescued by Helensburgh lifeboat and handed over to the ambulance service."
