THE dreary Helensburgh weather didn’t stop the cast of an annual Nativity in the Square from putting on a show to remember.
Members of the Helensburgh Baptist Church gathered in Colquhoun Square on December 11 for a wonderful Nativity performance titled Baby Jesus Rocks.
Sarah Peterson and Emily Maguire (below) were this year’s narrators, and did an “amazing job” as they navigated through electrical wires and umbrellas to reach the microphone.
Robert Thorn led the carol singing which the younger members of the troupe absolutely loved.
However, the star of the show was Elise the donkey, who made her usual appearance carrying a very young Mary to the manger.
The enthusiastic crowd didn’t let the weather get them down as the audience danced and sang in the rain.
Behind the Nativity stable, a tent was erected for anyone who wished to pray.
Youngsters who had found one of the baby Jesus rocks hidden by members of the congregation around the town before the performance were also able to claim their chocolate rewards there.
Ruth Allison from the organising team joked: “I don’t know who was more happy – the youngsters who received their chocolate or those giving out the chocolate seeing the smiling faces of the youngsters as they excitedly held up their baby Jesus rocks.”
