COVID vaccine drop-in clinics have been scheduled for this weekend in Helensburgh as efforts to limit the spread of the virus over the festive period are stepped up.
Despite NHS Highland and the Argyll and Bute health and social care partnership (HSCP) taking responsibility for administering booster jags in-house earlier this year - and away from local GPs - the Millig Practice in Helensburgh and Dr McLachlan and Partners, both based at Helensburgh Medical Centre, have announced that they will be running separate drop-in clinics in the town on Saturday.
A message received by Millig Practice patients on Tuesday afternoon read: "The Scottish Government has asked for our help to give Covid vaccines.
"If you are over 16 and due your first, second or booster vaccine please come along to our drop-in clinic on Saturday, December 18 at Lomond School sports hall between 9am-1pm.
"Please note that you will not be able to get a vaccine dose within 28 days of a positive Covid test."
No appointment is required and the clinic is not limited to Millig Practice patients.
Meanwhile a joint clinic for Dr McLachlan and Partners and Garelochhead Medical Centre patients is being held at Hermitage Academy on the same day (Saturday, December 18) between 9am and 1.30pm.
Anyone aged over 18 is invited to attend and no appointment is necessary. This clinic is for registered patients who are needing their first, second or booster vaccines.
Elsewhere in the area a drop-in vaccination clinic will be held at Cove Burgh Hall tomorrow (Wednesday, December 15) from 9am-8pm.
People aged 18 or older and 16-17-year-olds seeking their first and second dose are being encouraged to attend.
A post shared by Kilcreggan Medical Centre said: "This is a combination effort between the health board team and the practice in Kilcreggan.
"It is not limited to Kilcreggan patients - all over 18s who are eligible for a third dose are able to attend."
