A HOTEL near Helensburgh is in the running to be crowned wedding venue of the year at a national awards ceremony.

Rosslea Hall Hotel in Rhu has been named alongside nine other finalists for the south west region in the category at the Scottish Wedding Awards.

A black-tie ceremony will take place in February 2022 in Glasgow, where top specialists and establishments that have gone above and beyond in the sector will gather to celebrate their achievements.

Earlier this year the Advertiser reported on a groom's heartfelt messages of thanks to those who helped organise a last-ditch dream wedding at the Rosslea for himself and his partner, who had terminal cancer.

An online crowdfunder was launched to give Angela Gregory and Murdo Maclean their perfect day with the help of Wedding Wish Makers, and on July 20 the couple tied the knot in beautiful sunshine on the lawn outside the hotel.

The husband and wife team at Loch Lomond-based Picture You Photography have also been named as finalists at this year's awards in the creative photographer of the year category, while Jennifer Thomson Hair, also based in the Loch Lomond area, has been shortlisted for the freelance wedding hair/ make-up specialist of the year award.

The latter has also made the final in two categories at the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards, with a celebration event due to take place in Glasgow on December 19.

A spokesperson for The Scottish Wedding Awards 2022 said: “These awards are now recognised as the leading celebration for showcasing those that have demonstrated excellence in the industry.

“The aim is to acknowledge everyone in this sector that has shown skill, commitment and has customer satisfaction as top priority in their business.

“The competition is tough this year but it is time to acknowledge everyone who has shown dedication and professionalism in their workplace; two key features that make individuals and businesses stand out from the rest.

“With more entries than ever before, we would like to wish the finalists the best of luck and we can’t wait to welcome our guests at the ceremony and celebrate the winners with them.”
