ROYAL Navy personnel volunteered to serve up brunch to more than 60 members of the Garelochhead Station Trust at its annual Remembrance brunch club in the village’s Gibson Hall last week.
Commodore Bob Anstey, commanding officer of HMNB Clyde, acted as an auctioneer, raising more than £100 for a handmade poppy blanket before leading the Act of Remembrance, while local singer Nyah Anderson completed the day with a Vera Lynn singalong.
The day saw both tears and laughter as the club supported each other and shared memories of loved ones no longer here.
The Trust holds regular fortnightly brunch clubs, outings and other activities as well as providing information, support, training and social opportunities for veterans, their families and the local community.
