YOUNG people from the Route 81 youth project in Garelochhead are holding a free event in the village for the whole community this weekend.
Hallowe’en Rocks, taking place on Sunday, October 31 from 1-4pm, will see 200 painted and numbered stones hidden around the village – and all you have to do is find them.
A maximum of three stone finds per person is allowed – there is no age restriction! – and once you’ve found them, all you have to do is bring them to the shed in the rear car park at Centre 81 and exchange them for a bag of treats.
The event has been organised by Route 81’s youth team in partnership with Helensburgh and Lomond Young Carers, and is funded by The Arts Society for Lomond and Argyll, while a donation of decorations and sweets has been provided by the Morrisons supermarket in Helensburgh.
Route 81 co-ordinator Michelle Macdonald said: “After a long year affected by Covid, the young people wanted to give their community something fun to do which was as safe as possible and have committed many hours of organising this event and painting the stones.”
One of the organisers, 16-year-old Denis, said: “This event will let young people and the community get to know more about Route 81 and the local Helensburgh and Lomond Young Carers.
“Being part of Route 81, especially as a senior volunteer, helps you get skills which can help you in future careers.”
