A HELENSBURGH businesswoman who specialises in making others look and feel their best says she is “delighted and grateful” to have won a national award last weekend.
Having being shortlisted in the Make-Up Artist of the Year category at the Scottish Beauty Industry Awards in 2019, Debbie Hendrick went one step further on Sunday as she was crowned the best in the country for 2021.
Following a ceremony in Glasgow, Debbie, who’s Makeup by Debbie business is based at Partners Hair Salon in East Clyde Street, said the recognition “means the world”.
She told the Advertiser: “2020 was an incredibly difficult year for everyone and the beauty industry was very adversely affected.
“It’s been great getting back to doing what I love again and being recognised for my work feels amazing.
“I have the best clients and can’t thank them all enough for their continued support and all the lovely messages of congratulations.”

More than 40 awards were handed out at the third instalment of the annual event, with doctors, dentists, aesthetic clinics, hair and beauty teams and spas all being recognised.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Beauty Industry Awards said: “The beauty sector plays a vital role in the country’s economy and enhances the local community by employing hundreds of staff.
“The awards showcased those who promote excellence, set the trends and turn any dream look into reality. These specialists inspire others when it comes to the big and competitive world of beauty.
“We would like to congratulate all finalists and winners for their achievements and we hope that they will keep up their amazing work.”
Debbie previously earned a highly commended certificate at the last awards, which were postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic.
