A HELENSBURGH make-up artist is in the running to be crowned the best in Scotland at a national ceremony this weekend.

Debbie Hendrick, who runs her Makeup by Debbie business from Partners Hair Salon in East Clyde Street, is among 10 finalists shortlisted for Make Up Artist of the Year at the third Scottish Beauty Industry Awards.

Specialising in bridal and event make-up, Debbie was shortlisted in the same category in 2019 and the winners will be announced this Sunday, October 10.

Debbie said she was “chuffed” to be named as a finalist, adding: “I am so grateful to everyone that has voted and to be nominated again. Last time I was awarded a highly commended certificate and this time I hope I can win.”

A spokesperson for The Scottish Beauty Industry Awards 2021 said: “The Covid-19 pandemic presented unique challenges for the hair and beauty industry with many businesses being forced to close and various restrictions being in place.

“However, many businesses have successfully adapted to the new challenges the industry has faced since the pandemic started.

“In recognition of this, the awards will shine the spotlight on the talented professionals that have shown great passion, commitment and innovation for the beauty industry, who often don’t get the recognition they deserve.

“With fierce competition this year, we would like to wish the finalists the best of luck and we can’t wait to welcome our guests and deliver another enjoyable event.”
