MORE than 3,000 nuisance and scam phone calls have been blocked by ‘call blocker’ devices across Argyll and Bute so far this year, according to a new report.
A total of 66 devices have been installed across the area this year to protect older and vulnerable residents from scams.
A report prepared for a meeting of the Argyll and Bute Community Planning Partnership estimates that six scams have been prevented, and 3,421 calls blocked, by the devices this year.
One recipient of a device reportedly received 166 nuisance calls in the space of just 51 days, all of which were successfully blocked.
