A CLOTHES collection for people fleeing the Taliban in Afghanistan, organised by Rhu and Shandon Parish Church, proved a resounding success with two van loads of items being donated.
The community supported the cause by handing in spare and unwanted winter clothes to the church on Saturday, while the local Co-op contributed a generous donation of toiletries.
The items will be transported to Greece by the charity ‘Glasgow the Caring City’ before being distributed to Afghan refugees.
Church members said “an enormous ‘thank you’” to all who donated and to the Co-op for their generous donation to support their efforts.
