ORGANISERS of an endurance race on the hills above Helensburgh have announced that the event will not take place this year.
The From Hel ‘n Back trail run was scheduled for next month but a social media post shared last week revealed that the event has been cancelled.
The post said: “It’s with great disappointment that we have to cancel the race this year.
“Despite much optimism following the easing of restrictions a few weeks ago, our local council are not yet in a position to allow lets of community buildings.

“Unlike last year we cannot use the outside facilities for parking/registration/race start either. I’ve tried various options and it’s just not possible to deliver the event to our usual standards. That said, we will keep revisiting our local authority’s position and plan an event once it is possible to do so.
“For all entrants who deferred from last year, your entry fee will be automatically refunded over the next week.
“We really do hope to see you on the trails very soon....cursing the hills, loving the descents and eating all the post race cake.”
Last September 150 runners took part in the race, with the 12.5km route stretching from Hermitage Academy and over sections of the Three Lochs Way and John Muir Way.
