A HELENSBURGH man was stopped by staff at a shop in Sinclair Street on suspicion of stealing two bottles of whisky from the premises, say police.
Officers went to the shop at 3.10pm on August 25 and reportedly confirmed the man as a 45-year-old resident of the town’s Malcolm Place.
Police say the man had removed tags from two bottles and damaged another five by trying to remove tags from them, leaving them not fit for sale.
The man was also allegedly found in possession of a number of tablets which have been seized for analysis.
He is now the subject of a report to the fiscal on suspicion of shoplifting, vandalism and drug possession.
The total value of the whisky is said to be £192.
