HELENSBURGH Bowling Club’s 2021 champions were crowned in brilliant sunshine on a memorable finals day last Sunday.
After a very rainy Saturday, the much-improved conditions on the last day of a busy week’s bowling action made for an excellent standard of play on all five rinks.
In the gents’ championship final, Alan Air won his sixth Helensburgh gents’ title with victory over George Sneddon in a closely-fought match, while Anne Clancy, a newcomer to the Helensburgh club, won the ladies’ championship with victory over Carol Cavana in the final.
The gents’ and ladies’ senior championships, both sponsored by Helensburgh Specsavers, produced two more close finals, with George Sneddon making up for the disappointment of his defeat to Alan in the gents’ final by winning the senior title against Martin Air.
In the ladies’ senior final, Anne Clancy made it two wins from her first two Helensburgh championship final appearances with victory over Susan Claisse.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Congratulations to all our finalists, and a big thank you to our sponsors.”
