CRAIGHELEN Tennis Club’s senior championship titles will be decided this Saturday, September 4, after some wonderful summer weather graced the tournament’s knockout stages.
The men’s singles final will be between Harry Gould and Ian Fisher, who beat Elliot Fisher and Tam Morris respectively in the semi-finals.
Harry will also play in the men’s veteran singles final against Gerry Black.
The ladies’ semi-finals had yet to be decided as this report was written, with Anna Scullion facing Sarah Colman in one last four tie and Sue Black playing Susan Bell in the other, the quartet having beaten Ashley Bolton, Amanda Byles, Amy Parry and Laura McConnell respectively in the quarter-finals.
Coincidentally the ladies’ doubles final will see each of the singles last four protagonists on the same side of the net, with Anna and Sarah facing Susan and Sue.
Anna and Sarah beat Anna Short and Louise Rusk and then Sandra Juster and Jackie Morris to seal their place in the final, while Sue and Susan defeated Eileen Drummond and Lesley McGowan and then Laura McConnell and Amy Parry.
