A FORMER care home whose owners were forced to shut down after a scathing report by inspectors has gone up for sale.

Clyde View Care Home, located at Bloomhill House in Cardross, was closed down in 2018 after the Care Inspectorate sought, and received, an emergency cancellation of the home’s operating licence amid growing concern at the way it was being run.

The business’s owner, Reheela Khan, reportedly claimed staff had been “sleeping on the job”.

Bloomhill House is now being advertised for sale as a “development opportunity” after Argyll and Bute Council gave the green light in 2019 to proposals to convert the building into 10 flats, demolish a 20th-century extension, and build a new extension with room for a further four flats.

The property is listed for sale with the Helensburgh branch of Clyde Property estate agents for offers over £575,000.

The 20-bedroom home on Carman Road is a listed building and is described by Clyde Property as “a Jacobethan villa” dating back to 1838.

According to the property listing, each apartment in the development will have an asking price of between £175,000 and £215,000, with the building’s buyer taking on a “gross development value” of £1.9 million.
