THE sun shone on Lomond School’s senior pupils recently as they headed outdoors for their graduation ceremony before heading off to further education or the world of work.
Responding to the rise in Covid cases in the Helensburgh and Lomond area, the school’s staff decided at short notice to move the ceremony to the astroturf pitch outside the school’s sports hall, where the departing Class of 2021 gathered with their families.
Principal Johanna Urquhart said: “The past school year has felt a little like running an obstacle course with the need to constantly adapt to ever changing restrictions, a return to online learning when we least expected it and the countless other challenges and regulations that we’ve had to take in our stride.
“Our ability to be flexible and adaptable as well as the experience gained over the past 18 months came to our aid recently.
“We were delighted to be able to say goodbye and recognise all of our departing pupils’ achievements.
“It really has been an honour and a privilege for all of us at Lomond School to have had the pleasure of seeing our pupils grow and develop into the wonderful young men and women they are today, and we wish them every success for the future.”
