A POPULAR Helensburgh restaurant has closed temporarily after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.
The Sugar Boat restaurant in Colquhoun Square shut this week and announced in a post shared on Facebook that it intends to reopen on Wednesday, July 7 at 9am.
Owner Will Smith confirmed that the setback was not the result of an outbreak at the eatery, and told the Advertiser that he had taken the decision to close as other members of staff had been in contact with the positive case, requiring them to isolate, and leaving the restaurant with "not enough team members to trade".
On Monday Helensburgh Eyecare, on the junction of Sinclair Street and East Princes Street, announced it was closing for a week due to a close contact with a Covid-19 case, while earlier this month the Mandarin Chinese takeaway in West Princes Street announced similar measures after two members of staff tested positive on Saturday, June 19.
Elsewhere, management at the Rosneath Castle caravan park took the "unfortunate but necessary decision" to temporarily close the site's bar and restaurant until further notice on Friday, June 25.
A social media update cited a "suspected positive test for coronavirus of one of our team members" as the reason for the decision.
