FOR the thirteenth week running no further deaths relating to Covid-19 have been recorded in Argyll and Bute.
Official statistics released by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) on Wednesday reveal that between Monday, June 14 and Sunday, June 20, there were no deaths in the area in which Covid was mentioned on the death certificate.
The new figures mean that there has not been a death relating to Covid-19 in Argyll and Bute since the end of March – though confirmed case numbers in the area continue to rise.
The number of people who have died from Covid in the area in 2021 remains at 20, while the total number of Covid-related deaths recorded in Argyll and Bute is 106 since the pandemic began last March.
Public Health Scotland says there were 142 confirmed positive Covid tests in Argyll and Bute in the seven days to June 19, compared to 42 in the week to June 13.
The rise in local positive tests has been labelled "concerning" by NHS Highland officials, who have urged people to exercise caution despite the relaxing of restrictions.

A total of 13 deaths relating to Covid were registered across Scotland in the seven days to June 20, compared to seven the previous week.
In total, 10,150 deaths have been registered in Scotland where coronavirus was mentioned on the death certificate, according to the statistics.
Of those registered this week, 10 happened in hospital, two at a home setting and one at a care home setting.
There were four deaths in Glasgow, two in Perth and Kinross and one death in each of Dundee City, Falkirk, Highland, Midlothian, South Ayrshire and West Lothian. There was also one death in nearby West Dunbartonshire.
The statistics are published weekly and cover all deaths registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
They differ from the lab-confirmed coronavirus deaths announced daily by the Scottish Government because the NRS figures include suspected or probable cases of Covid-19.
