FANS of Charles Rennie Mackintosh are being invited to join in some birthday fun at the Hill House in Helensburgh this weekend.
People are being encouraged to don their finery in honour of the man who designed the famous building and visit the house this Saturday, Sunday and Monday, June 5 to 7.
The initiative has been dreamed up by the Hill House team to mark not only 153 years since Mackintosh’s birth, but also two years since the opening of the Hill House’s protective Box.
Taylah Egbers, visitor services supervisor at the Hill House, said: “From June 5 to 7 we want to see fabulous mask moustaches, glamorous hats, artistic-inspired clothing – the works!
“The Mackintosh style is world-famous, so we can’t wait to see the creative outfits our visitors put together for this special occasion, at a place that so many people love.”
The weekend will also see a visit from the Glasgow Book Fairies with a Mackintosh-themed book drop in which visitors can simply take a book marked by the “fairies”, read it and leave it for the next person to enjoy.
Advance booking is essential for the house, though not for the cafe and garden. See nts.org.uk/visit/places/the-hill-house.
