A KITE surfer was rescued from Loch Long at the weekend after getting into difficulty in the water off Cove.
Helensburgh’s RNLI crew attended the incident on Sunday afternoon after the Coastguard requested the assistance of the lifeboat in response to a 999 call from a member of the public.
The kite surfer was reported to be struggling to get ashore because of offshore winds.
When the RNLI lifeboat arrived on the scene the person had been taken in tow by a yacht. The volunteer team transferred the kite surfer to the lifeboat and returned to the shore at Cove.
Howard Morrison, lifeboat operations manager, said: “The weather is set to improve in the next week and we expect there will be more people on the water this bank holiday weekend.
“We urge people to stay safe, check their lifeboat equipment and wear a lifejacket if they are taking part in activities on the water.”
