A POPULAR walking route near Helensburgh is set to be refurbished by a local charity.
The Helensburgh and District Access Trust (HADAT) has drawn up plans to make significant improvements to the drainage and the path surface at Ardmore Point - a popular walking area for locals.
John Urquhart from HADAT told the Advertiser: “To date the Trust has created and repaired 12 km of paths and walking routes in the immediate vicinity of Helensburgh.
“For now, the traditional route over to the north side of the peninsula has been re-established thanks to the hard work of the local Filshie family and Lomond School student Oscar Deighan [pictured].
“Oscar has begun volunteer work with HADAT to help look after the walking paths in the local area.
“The volunteers have also been cutting back the fast growing and prickly gorse which has been threatening to engulf the trail around the outermost part of the headland.”
The work done to the full circuit will help with the water problems along the path, allowing walkers to enjoy their exercise in the area without needing to bring along a pair of wellies.
