BOMB disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion of a World War Two grenade found in Kilcreggan this afternoon (Monday).
The Royal Navy's Faslane-based northern diving group attended the village following the discovery at a property, and the historic item was moved safely to a nearby shore where it was detonated.
A Ministry of Defence statement said: "We can confirm that Royal Navy bomb disposal experts from the Clyde-based Northern Diving Group were called to Kilcreggan today, Monday, March 1, to investigate an item of suspected ordnance found on a property there.
"The item was found to be a historic WW2 grenade and Northern Diving Group personnel moved the item to a safe location and carried out a controlled explosion."
