THE organisers of the Rosneath Highland Gathering have announced the cancellation of the event for a second year because of Covid-19.
The eagerly-anticipated Gathering, always a highlight of the annual Helensburgh and Lomond events calendar, had been provisionally due to take place on Sunday, July 18.
But in an announcement posted on the event's website and Facebook page on Friday, the organisers said: "Due to the current circumstances and continuing uncertainty of Covid-19 this year, it is with much regret that the committee have decided to cancel the this year's Games."

The Gathering traditionally attracts competitors from far beyond the village to compete, particularly in its solo piping competition, which is one of the most highly-regarded in the piping calendar.
All solo piping winners from the last Gathering in 2019 are being asked to contact the competition's convener, Colina Helen Campbell, on 07710 427535 to make arrangements for the safe return of 2019 trophies.
There has been no announcement yet on the fate of this year's Helensburgh and Lomond Highland Games, while the website of the Luss Highland Gathering says only that "we hope to see you on 3 July 2021".
