POLICE in Helensburgh have issued a warning to tradesmen without official documents looking for business in the area.
Officers have received several calls over the last fortnight relating to people going door-to-door in search of building and/or gardening work.
According to legislation, any work offered should be drafted officially on paper and must contain a seven-day cooling-off period should the customer change their mind prior to any works commencing.

Local officers have been pro-actively stopping works vans in the area to ensure they are going about their business in a legal manner, while also ensuring tradespeople are only in the area for genuine work reasons and are not breaching current Covid-19 travel restrictions.
If you have any concerns about people attending private addresses in search of business, call the police on 101.
