FRAUD schemes involving kittens, cash and gift cards are among those reported in the Helensburgh and Lomond area recently, according to local police.
Scam attempts are continuing to cause concern to officers, with reports last week of a person advertising kittens for sale which, once deposits are paid for, are no longer available and the seller is not contactable.
Police say they are also aware of a phone call scam involving a purported BT fraud team, in which the person who answers the call is asked to pay money into another account to either protect it from scammers or on the pretence that it is to trap a scammer.

Similar calls have also been reported involving the purchase of an Amazon gift card, where the victim is asked to enter a competition or prize draw and provide the details on the card, and the card is then cashed by the scammer resulting in the value of the card being lost.
These reports come as NHS services across the country warned about Covid-19 vaccine scams where locals were asked to pay to get an appointment to receive a vaccine.
Any suspicious calls should be reported to police by calling 101.
