THE magnificent lights of the Aurora Borealis have been caught on camera over Loch Lomond by a local photographer.
Sometimes referred to as the Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis is a natural light display in the Earth’s sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions around the Arctic.
However, on clear nights it's often visible in Scotland - and earlier this week the dazzling natural exhibit lit up the sky over Loch Lomond.
Local snapper Jaz Kular went on into the night to catch some photos of the spectacular event over Auchendennan Bay in Loch Lomond on January 11 at 12.36am.
She told the Advertiser: “My partner and I knew it was going to happen as we get aurora alerts on our phone apps.
“It was absolutely incredible, beautiful.
“Our first time seeing the aurora and right on our doorstep, after many failed attempts due to poor visibility, weather, after months of chasing and having no luck, almost two hours of stunning aurora right on our doorstep.
“A beautiful moment we will treasure for a long time.”
