CUSTOMERS at the Co-operative Food store in Cardross have been lending a hand to the Helensburgh and Lomond Foodbank’s efforts to make sure families in the area don’t go hungry this Christmas.
The store has been collecting food items throughout the pandemic, and Rev Maggie McArthur, the minister at Cardross Parish Church, popped in earlier this month to pick up the latest bags full of items for the volunteer-run food bank.
Andy Alderson, the store’s manager, said: “All of us at Cardross Co-op would just like to thank the generosity of our local community who each week donate hundreds of pounds to Helensburgh and Lomond Foodbank which in these difficult times must help out families so much.
“Even more so, with the coronavirus pandemic still causing misery to so many families, we as a community really do pull together which is so nice to see.

“We will always strive to do the very best we can for our community and beyond. Thanks again to our customers for helping to make this happen.”
Maggie added: “All the Co-op’s staff have been so kind and helpful. I appreciate all they have done.
“I would like to offer my personal thanks to them all and to everyone in the village who have supported the food bank during the pandemic.
“Sadly, it will be needed well into the new year and I am sure that we can rely on people’s generosity a little while longer.”
