A HELENSBURGH mental health group is offering a drop-in “brew and a blether” session on Christmas Day for locals in need of support.
Males Tales, which was launched in 2019 by John Lewis, will open its doors on December 25 to help anyone who may be struggling.
Although the group was founded for men, anyone in need of support on the day will be able to attend.
One-on-one peer support will be available, as well as a group session, and refreshments will also be provided.
John told the Advertiser: “Christmas can be a hard time for a lot of us.
“It can be an extremely low point of the year for some people, it can be extremely lonely or remind us of loved ones lost.
“The Christmas period also results in one of the highest suicide rates in the UK.
“Do not suffer alone or in silence, the help and support is there if you just reach out.”
The session will run from 11am until 2pm on Friday, December 25 in the Drumfork Community Centre, Churchill Square.

Meanwhile the group received an early Christmas present with the announcement that it is one of two local organisations which will receive a share of the cash raised through this year’s Santa Dash.
The traditional event cannot take place in its usual format due to Covid restrictions, however, the Helensburgh and District Round Table is asking residents to dress up and take part in their own run around the area.
Entry is free but any donations will be split among Males Tales and Helensburgh and Lomond Autism.

The group also held the first of its ‘walk and talk’ events last weekend, with similar meet-ups set to take place on the first Saturday of every month, weather dependent. Anyone is welcome to attend.
