PART of the main road along Helensburgh's seafront has been closed after debris from a nearby building fell on to the carriageway.
Argyll and Bute Council announced via Facebook and Twitter on Saturday morning that a stretch of East Clyde Street had been shut following the incident.
The authority said in a statement posted on social media: "A building has collapsed on the A814 East Clyde Street between Sinclair Street and Maitland Street junctions.
"The road is closed at this section."
The diversion route is via Maitland Street, East Princes Street and Sinclair Street.
Local resident Melissa Ludford posted an image of the closed stretch of road on Facebook, saying: "From what I can see there is debris on the pavement from the unstable building."
Some Helensburgh residents commented on Facebook to say that rather than a "collapse", as described by the council, a number of stones from a building had fallen on to the roadway.
The same stretch of the A814 was closed for four months in 2018 due to concerns over the safety of the property at 5-7 East Clyde Street.
Earlier this year Argyll and Bute Council warned that that property – on which a 'dangerous building notice' has been in place since 2016 – was at risk of being completely demolished without intervention from its owners to make it safe.
A Met Office weather warning is in place for strong winds and heavy rain in Helensburgh until Saturday evening as Storm Aiden lashes western parts of the UK.
