THE head teacher at Rosneath Primary has hailed a “significant milestone” in the school’s journey after a new early learning and childcare (ELC) centre opened up last week.
Work on the purpose-built nursery began last year but due to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions the completion date was pushed back until Monday, August 31.
Up to 20 children aged between three and five-years-old will be provided pre-school education in the new ELC centre, with the school offering 1,140 hours of free childcare for each eligible youngster per year, as part of a national policy introduced by the Scottish Government.

Rosneath Primary head teacher, Emma McDermid, said: “I am delighted we are now able to celebrate a significant milestone in our journey at Rosneath Primary School to provide pre-school education to children in our surrounding community.
“Our staff have worked hard to make this happen and in doing so we have worked closely with Argyll and Bute Early Years Team to create a unique nurturing setting, enabling all children and families to experience excellent provision.
“We are excited to develop this new opportunity and embed our Early Learning Centre within our school community.
“We have had a great start to our opening week with lots of happy children exploring our new resources.”
