EXCITING times lie ahead for a local older people’s group after it secured a lease for a property near the centre of Helensburgh.
The Grey Matters Active Ageing board of trustees have leased premises at 61 West Princes Street, where they plan to continue their community activities with the Helensburgh and Lomond area’s over-60s as soon as the current restrictions have eased.
During the Covid-19 crisis, the group has continued to engage with members, despite being unable to hold meet-ups at their regular venue, in the Guide Hall in John Street.

The trustees have been taking advantage of the downtime during lockdown to ensure that the new premises will be safe to open to members when small groups are able to meet inside, ensuring that hand sanitiser is readily available and social distancing can easily take place.
Chair of trustees, Irene Stephenson, said: “The board is very excited about having their own base in the community.

“We are looking forward to watching the organisation continue to grow and a place that members can easily access will help this to happen.”
In the future, the plan is for the premises to be the centre of the charity in the hope that the location will make it easy for all to learn more about the group and find company in a friendly space, whilst helping them to build a positive and exciting future for the older people in Helensburgh.
