HELENSBURGH'S Boys’ Brigade organisation has issued an appeal for volunteer helpers after the coronavirus crisis forced several leaders to end their participation with the group.
The BB has been providing fun activities and training for boys for over 100 years and the Helensburgh group, led by Iain Talman, was due to have its parents' night last week, however, it was cancelled due to current restrictions.
The evening, which was scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, would have been the perfect opportunity for family and friends to see what members had been doing and achieving during the current session, including building a model railway layout, learning figure-marching, playing games, singing, craft work and other activities.
Boys would have received badges and trophies recognising both their normal work and activities over the year and also in recognition of special achievements.

However, with church premises closed, along with schools, and instructions from BB headquarters, the event had to be cancelled with leaders now considering how to ensure that recognition takes place in some form.
In the meantime Iain is hoping for more helpers to get in touch for next session.
He said: "Several leaders have, for various reasons like work, health and family, had to say they will not be able to continue.
"There will be problems running next session without more leaders and it may not be possible at all.

"Experience is a help but not essential. Training is available.
"What are mostly needed are a desire to help young people and a sense of fun.
"If you or anyone you know would be able to provide help in leadership please contact us.
Being a leader is a fascinating journey, give it a try."
