A GARELOCHHEAD woman was left permanently scarred after her former partner stabbed her at a house in the village.
Andrew Wynne carried out the vicious assault on his ex at a property in the village's Greenfield Way on July 31 last year.
Wynne, 35, of Newton Church Road in Dalkeith, pleaded guilty to a charge of serious assault when he appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.
The charge admitted by Wynne stated that he threw a chair at the woman, hit her on the head with the same chair and then stabbed her with a knife or similar instrument, to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

He was originally alleged to have repeatedly attempted to stab the woman before he actually did stab her, but that part of the charge was deleted by the Crown prior to Wynne's guilty plea being lodged.
Wynne originally faced a further charge which accused him of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly shouting, refusing to leave the property when asked, stabbing himself on the body and placing the woman in a state of fear and alarm.
But his solicitor, David Gallagher, said his client was pleading not guilty to that charge – a plea which was accepted by the Crown.
Prosecutors also accepted Wynne's plea of not guilty to an additional charge accusing him of drink-driving on the Glen Douglas road near Arrochar on the same day.

However, Wynne did admit a charge of failing to tell police who had been at the wheel of a vehicle whose driver was alleged to have been guilty of a drink-driving offence.
That incident happened on the same road at around 2.12pm, again on July 31.
Fiscal depute Meghan Glancey told the hearing on March 17 that Wynne had no previous convictions.

Deferring sentence for background reports, Sheriff William Gallacher told Wynne: "The court will hear an account of these matters in full on the next occasion the case calls, but before that can happen the court needs more information."
Wynne was released on bail under the standard conditions – one of which says that he must co-operate with the preparation of those background reports.
Sheriff Gallacher added: "All options, including a custodial sentence, are open to the court."
