AN ALL singing and all dancing cast of performers thrilled crowds at the Tower Digital Arts Centre in Helensburgh recently to raise more than £4,000 for charity.
The third Matinee at the Musicals event, held over two shows in the afternoon and evening of Sunday, February 23, raised vital funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity and Myeloma UK.
Organiser Donna Hicks, who was diagnosed with myeloma in 2014 and is still undergoing chemotherapy treatment, said the annual showpiece was a huge success once again.
“This was the third year we’ve put it on at the Tower as they sponsor the event and give us the hall for free”, she told the Advertiser.
“We had over 60 people in the cast, including singers, children and dancers from Urbaniks dance school. Both performances were sold out and we have so far raised £4,600.
“The cast members loved it, everybody did.”

More than £14,000 has now been raised since the event was launched.
Donna added: “It’s pretty much been the same cast since we started, people are really committed and want to be involved. It started off as a one-off and we didn’t intend to do more than that, but it seems to have become a real favourite.
“Everyone gets their sleeves rolled up and helps out, there’s a great community spirit and we wouldn’t be able to do it without that.”
Donna added her thanks to musical director Pamela Frew, multimedia producer Andrew Turnbull, head of tech Dave Dunbar, staff at the Tower, including Brian Keating and Claire Lang, and Paul and Pauline Joseph.
