THE Mackintosh Club in Helensburgh will add yet another name to its growing list of talented artists this weekend.
Artist Amanda Buchanan-Hutchison’s work will go on display at a special preview event in the Sinclair Street venue this Sunday, March 1, and will remain on show at the gallery for the whole of the month.
Amanda’s work was exhibited at a one-day ‘pop-up’ show in October in the village of Strathblane, near Milngavie, where Amanda lives and where her studio is based, while two of her paintings also featured in the Meffan Winter Exhibition in Forfar the following month.
But her forthcoming exhibition is her first in Helensburgh.

Amanda, who studied graphic design at college before discovering a passion for fine art, told the Advertiser: “I’m really looking forward to the show.
“Nicola [Jamieson, from the Mackintosh Club] saw some of my work and contacted me at the end of last year to see if I’d be interested in an exhibition at the venue.
“We decided on a show in March, to give me a chance to create a few more pieces, and now that it’s almost here I’m really excited about it – it should be quite good fun.”

That led her to the decision to set up her own studio, Little Wren Studio, next to her home, where she can often be found painting abstract landscapes.
“Most of my inspiration comes from the countryside I’m living in,” she continued.
“I do a lot of walking in the hills with my dogs, and a lot of my paintings come from the time I spend out there.
“The exhibition in Strathblane in October was really successful, but it was only for one day.

“The Helensburgh show will last for the whole month of March, which will give people plenty of time to pop in and take a look at my work.
“And the Mackintosh Club is a fantastic venue – it has a great atmosphere for events like this one and I really hope people will enjoy what they see.”
Amanda will be present throughout this Sunday’s preview event, which runs from 1-4pm. The exhibition will remain open to the public throughout the venue’s normal opening hours – Monday-Friday from 11am-4pm – for the rest of March.
Weekend opening is by appointment with the venue – call 01436 674375.
