THE first day of the New Year was far from happy for one Helensburgh driver after he was arrested for alleged drink driving.
Police were told by bar staff in the town shortly before midnight on January 1 that a man who had been drinking was seen allegedly entering the passenger seat of a silver 4x4 vehicle in West Clyde Street and driving off.
Officers attended an address in Kent Drive in Churchill, where a 47-year-old man was arrested for allegedly driving whilst under the influence and with having no insurance and no driving licence.

Once at Clydebank police office further samples of breath were taken, allegedly confirming the man was substantially over the drink drive limit.
He was held in custody to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.
