A MAN was arrested for alleged drink driving after crashing his car in Helensburgh and fleeing the scene of the incident.
Police were called to the single vehicle accident on East Princes Street shortly after midnight on Monday, December 16 after a report of a black Honda having struck a tree.
Further reports from witnesses stated that a lone male had made off from the vehicle and a search of the area proved negative initially.

Officers eventually identified the suspected driver’s address and forced entry to his home in East King Street to ensure he was not injured after getting no response at the door.
The 36-year-old male was subsequently arrested for allegedly driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and he was taken to Clydebank police station.
No-one was hurt and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
