ROAD users are being warned not to take a chance with drink or drugs this Christmas as police aim to crack down on drivers under the influence.
Random vehicle checks are being conducted in the Helensburgh and Lomond area over the festive period and anyone in doubt is strongly advised to take a taxi, use a nominated driver or walk.

Police Scotland’s Helensburgh and Lomond area inspector Roddy MacNeill said: “If you are intent on driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs either in the evening or morning after, we are confident we will detect you.
“Christmas will not be as nice without your driving licence and possibly your job depending if you require a licence.

“Our prisoner meals are good quality and we always have vacancies but it may not be what you had in mind.
“Don’t take the chance; we only need to be lucky once.”
