The family of the two-year-old girl who died suddenly after taking ill at the family's home in Rhu at the weekend have posted an emotional video to YouTube urging parents to be aware of the signs of sepsis.

Eliza Woods was rushed to hospital on Saturday afternoon but had died before reaching doctors.

The family uploaded a video to YouTube on Tuesday evening thanking people for their support since the tragedy and urging parents to look out for the signs of the rare, but very dangerous, condition.

It was initially thought that septicaemia - when bacteria enters the bloodstream, causing blood poisoning and triggering sepsis - which caused Eliza's death had been brought on by meningitis, but in the video, her father Mike said it turned out to have followed a bronchial infection.

Mike said: "Our family, friends and community have been fantastic in support and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

"But we have one more favour to ask you, and to anyone watching this video.

"Spread this message far and wide. We ask you to remember Eliza.

"Think sepsis; say sepsis. Please. No parent should have to bury their child."
