LEGENDS from both sides of the great Glasgow football divide dined together at a Helensburgh restaurant ahead of their teams’ recent League Cup final clash.
Former Rangers manager Walter Smith and Celtic’s former assistant manager Murdo MacLeod tucked into steak and seafood at a charity bash hosted by Cattle & Creel.
Six diners bid for their place on the VIP table at a fund-raising auction held by Ardencaple Football Club earlier this year.
Restaurant owners Cara and Milan Nikolic, whose twin sons play for the club, donated the prize which also saw club chairman Craig Holborn and sponsor Milan join the table.
Helensburgh businesses who donated generously to bag the auction prize included estate and letting agents Caledonia Property, M&T Builders Merchants and children’s clothing shop Eden Helensburgh.
Former Scotland professional Walter is president of Ardencaple FC, while TV and radio sports pundit and former Scotland player Murdo is an ambassador for the club.
Murdo said: “What a great night out. There was some great chat around the table, especially in anticipation of Sunday’s cup final.
“There were fantastic funds raised from this which I’m sure the club will put to good use.”
Walter added: “I’m proud to be president of Ardencaple Football Club and always happy to contribute my time to help with their fundraising efforts.
“The local community is at the heart of everything the club does.”
Restauranteur Milan said it was “a real pleasure” to host the night adding: “It was really good fun with great company and a lot of laughs and jokes.”
Caple chairman Craig Holborn thanked Walter and Murdo for giving up “yet more of their personal time” to support the club.
He added: “Thanks also to the winning bidders for securing their places at the table by pledging much-welcome financial support, and to Cattle & Creel for hosting our dinner.
“This event would not have been possible without their continued sponsorship and tremendous generosity.”
