A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in Helensburgh on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.
A white Ford Focus was stopped by police on Old Luss Road on Sunday, October 27 after officers became concerned at the way it was being driven.
Officers say the man behind the wheel appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or another substance.
The driver, from Balloch, passed a roadside breath test, but due to ongoing concern over his condition, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
The man was taken to Clydebank police office to be examined by a doctor.
He was subsequently charged and blood samples were submitted for analysis.
New powers giving police the authority to carry out on-the-scene mouth swabs of motorists suspected of driving under the influence of drugs were introduced across Scotland earlier this month.
