THE clocks may only just have gone back, but the countdown to Christmas in Helensburgh is well and truly on.
Santa’s elves, otherwise known as volunteers from the Helensburgh Festive Lighting Charitable Trust, have been out in force in the town centre since Monday putting lighting features on lamp-posts around the town ahead of the big switching-on ceremony in four weeks’ time.
This week's work comes after the Trust's volunteers spent 180 hours repairing and maintaining the lights prior to the installation.
This is the first year that the Trust’s volunteers will be responsible for the provision of every aspect of the town’s festive lighting. The switch will be thrown on Saturday, November 23 – we can’t wait!
